Everyone’s idea of the perfect family vacation is different. While you and your spouse might prefer a quiet evening in one of our Gatlinburg cabins, your kids might want to chug two liters of Pepsi and drive go karts for five hours straight. How can you make sure that your whole family enjoys their time in the Great Smoky Mountains? Fortunately, Parkside Cabin Rentals has the answer. Our vacation specialists have put together a handful of great tips to help you make the most out of your family vacation.

A Little Input Goes a Long Way

Clearly you can’t let your children plan your vacation itinerary, because this would likely result in absolute chaos and/or crippling debt. However, it is a good idea to let your children in on the planning process. Instead of handing over the reigns to your seven year old daughter, give her some options to choose from: “Do you want to go to Ripley’s Aquarium, Dollywood, or the National Park?” Letting your kids feel like they have input will do wonders for their mood and behavior.

Build Some Downtime Into Your Schedule

Want to know a good recipe for cranky children? Mix one package of “too much walking around” with two servings of “sleep deprivation”. Do yourself and your family a favor and schedule some time in the afternoon to just take it easy in your cabin. Even if your kids are too old to take a nap they will enjoy relaxing for an hour or two. With high speed wireless internet, cable television, and a pool table, your children will have plenty to do during their afternoon break in our Gatlinburg cabins.
