Whether you recycle plastics or have sustainable energy in your home, small steps to taking care of our world can make a big difference. To celebrate Earth Week and everything you do to make it a better place, the Smoky Mountains will be hosting a variety of events including outdoor festivities, children’s programs and green living seminars.

The events in Gatlinburg will occur the week of April 21 through April 27. The Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg aims to teach and connect locals and visitors to sustainable solutions and cutting-edge information to live greener and healthier lifestyles.

The Earth Week events in Gatlinburg begins with a Green Breakfast Seminar at the Hilton Garden Inn followed by a cleanup partnership at the Spur on Monday. To spice up midweek and encourage participation of all ages, a children’s planting program is scheduled in partnership with Keep Sevier Beautiful. On Thursday, a festival is planned at Mynatt Park, where the whole family can enjoy live music, craft stations and food. Throughout the event, families can learn about easy green everyday solutions.

On Saturday, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park welcomes all youth to celebrate National Junior Ranger Day with special activities at all of the National Park’s visitor centers. From 10:00am to 2:00pm, children and their families can join in for free activities including Ranger-guided walks, hand-on animal tables and historic toy making.

To end Earth Week with a bang on Sunday, Mills Park will be hosting a disc golf tournament. At $20 for adults and $15 for children, the discs will be provided. On-site registration includes lunch and an Earth Week t-shirt. Registration for the event begins at 12:30, and tee-offs will occur between 1:00 and 3:00.
