One thing all couples should make a point of doing while in Gatlinburg is to spend an evening experiencing one of the unique winery or distillery tours and sampling.

Sugarland Cellars is a fully operating facility making fine wines onsite. Free tours are offered daily from noon until 5:30 pm. Tastings of all the available wines are given after the tour. Don’t forget to stroll through the gift shop for Sugarland merchandise and to pick up a bottle of your favorite wine for later. You can find Sugarland Cellars at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The knowledgeable staff is ready to show you all there is to see and taste, including the art of wine making and interesting facts about Gatlinburg’s cultural heritage.

If you’re more interested in the traditional backwoods Smoky Mountain Moonshine, the Ole Smoky Distillery is for you. This is the true moonshine experience. During your tour you can view working stills and learn the process from start to finish. Distillers can answer questions and teach you all the lore and history of moonshining in the Appalachians. Free tasting of Un-aged Corn Whiskey, Moonshine Cherries, and White Lightning are given after the tour. All are available for purchase as well. Located at 903 Parkway, the Ole Smoky Distillery is open daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Looking for a great place to grab a bite to eat? Smoky Mountain Brewery has good food, nightly entertainment, and their own micro brewed beer. It’s all made in small batches without chemicals, additives, preservatives, or pasteurization. Located at 1004 Parkway in Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountain Brewery is popular with the skiers and hikers due to the ski lodge feel with the added Bavarian Beer Hall touch. The enclosed deck is the perfect spot to take in the view of Calhoun’s Village with the Smoky Mountains in the background.

No matter which winery or distillery tour you choose, it will be a highlight of your sweetheart getaway in Gatlinburg. The evening will be one you’ll both remember for a long time to come.
