Beautiful fall colors in the Great Smoky Mountains

One of the things that draws both first time and repeat visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains is the natural beauty. The fall is an especially wonderful time to take a visit to the mountains due to the changing of spring and summer colors into their fall hues.

There are many incredible ways to take in the scenic views of the mountains in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area. Here are 3 that are sure to please the whole family:

Gatlinburg Sky Lift

Located in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift has been a popular attraction for years and years. Similar in design and operation to a traditional ski lift, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift gives guests an opportunity to take in the beautiful colors of fall by taking a relaxing ride up the mountain to a scenic overlook. The attraction stays open into the night time where it provides fantastic views of Gatlinburg lit up in the dark.

  • Cost: $15 for adults, $11.25 for children

Similar to the Gatlinburg Sky Lift, the Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway takes guests on a smooth ride from downtown Gatlinburg up the mountain to the Ober Gatlinburg resort. The tramway provides wonderful views of the changing fall colors in the Smoky Mountains as guests relax and enjoy the ride. Ober Gatlinburg also provides views of the fall colors once guests arrive at the top.

  • Cost: $12 for adults, $9.50 for children

The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel

One of the newest attractions to the Pigeon Forge area is the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. Located at The Island in Pigeon Forge, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is a 200 foot modern-day ferris wheel that gives guests panoramic views down the Parkway into the Sevierville area and up the Parkway into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

However, the best view is of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! From the peak of 200 feet in the air, the views of the mountains are simply breathtaking and worth the cost of admission.

Guests can sit inside of an air-conditioned, fully enclosed glass gondola and take in the views.

  • Cost: $13 for adults, $11 for seniors, $9 for children ages 3-11 and free for children ages 2 and under

These are obviously not the only ways to see the fall colors in the Smoky Mountains. There are many more ways to see the beauty of the mountains, many of which can be found by simply exploring and seeing what you find.
